Detailed description of Blackheath Golf Club

Blackheath Golf Club, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

Blackheath first opened for play in 1998. It was designed by Kevin Aldrich. Mr. Aldridge's inspiration to develop this style of layout was brought on by a visit to Scotland. There are two types of courses in the birthplace of golf which are heathland and links styles. A heathland course is built from farmland and lies inland from the sea. Links courses on the other hand sit next to the sea. As opposed to a links design with their bumpy fairways and deep bunkers, a heathland course offers gently rolling fairways and flat bunkering.

Blackheath Golf Course is a heathland course and offers gently rolling fairways and flat bunkering.

The course sits on 128 acres. It features a good test of golf for both men and ladies of all skill levels. Playing to par of 71 the course offers four sets of tees, challenging bunkering, and undulating greens that make for a true but fair round of golf. The course plays to 6,768 yards from the back tees and 5,354 yards from the forward tees.

The course may be slightly overpriced but still pretty good. Fairly challenging with several blind tee shots but there is lots of room for wayward drives. The course is kept in great condition and the staff members are super friendly and helpful.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area

Good risk reward options. Several blind shots over rolling fairways. The course is generally forgiving of a poor shot allowing the average golfer to recover with careful play. However, take too much risk pars become bogeys and bogeys can turn to doubles or triples. That makes the round a lot of fun.
